Jay Koh sinh ra ở Singapore, hiện có quốc tịch Đức, sống tại Malaysia từ năm 2000, nhận mình là người Đông Nam Á và là nghệ sĩ-giám tuyển liên ngành, nhà giáo dục, chuyện gia tư vấn/đánh giá chuyên về nghệ thuật công cộng có sự tham gia và hướng tới các vấn đề xã hội. Ông từng làm việc và giảng dạy tại 40 nước châu Âu, Á và nhiều nơi khác. Ông có bằng Tiến sĩ Nghệ thuật về nghiên cứu nghệ thuật liên ngành tại University of the Arts ở Helsinki.
Năm 1995, ông thành lập Diễn đàn quốc tế về Nghệ thuật InterMedia (iFIMA), ông cũng quản lý không gian nghệ thuật, nghệ thuật ở Cologne (1992-99) và cùng Chu Yuan khởi xướng các dự án giáo dục nghệ thuật công cộng có sự tham gia và gắn kết xã hội vào năm 2000, chẳng hạn như chương trình Open Academy tại Hà Nội, Huế, Ulaanbaatar và Yangon.
Jay Koh, born in Singapore, now with a German citizenship, lives in Malaysia since 2000, considers himself a Southeast Asian, is a cross-disciplinary artist-curator, educator and consultant/evaluator with focuses on public participative and socially-engaged art. He has practiced and lectured in over 40 countries in Europe, Asia and elsewhere. His Doctor of Fine Arts (DFA) on cross-disciplinary artistic research was attained with the University of the Arts Helsinki.
In 1995, he founded international Forum for InterMedia Arts (iFIMA) while managing the art space, arting in Cologne (1992-99) and joined by Chu Yuan in 2000, to initiate public, participative and socially engaged art-education projects, such as the Open Academy program in Hanoi, Hue, Ulaanbaatar and Yangon.
